Transfer Center of Kram, Tunisia
Transfer stations are of particular importance for the development towards sustainable waste management, as they are a precondition for closing and rehabilitating local dumps, which are often unsecured. ANGed is aware of this special importance and has realised different sizes and examples of transfer stations where the waste is reloaded depending on the expected quantity.
ANGed - Agence Nationale de Gestion des Déchets

The transfer station - shown here is structured in two levels.
The waste is poured into a lower container from above. When the container is filled up, the container vehicle picks it up and takes it to the central dump. The large transfer station has either one, two or three covered transhipment areas.

The roofing area is approximately 1200 m2 and reduces wind blows.
The whole area has a size of about 5300 m2. In the large transfer station shown here with 3 transhipment areas,65 t of waste between 7:00 a.m. and 07:00 p.m. can be reloaded.
