The International Expert Group on Earth System Preservation IESP e. V. is an institution of the Technical University of Munich and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Through topic-based conferences and publications, we act as an intermediary between experts, decision-makers and the public to support an exchange of concerns and knowledge and to make well-founded recommendations for action.
IESP members and friends
- understand the significance of today's Earth system crises for the survival of future generations
- realize the urgency of effective action;
- feel responsible for the preservation of today's Earth system to ensure a harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity;
- share their scientific knowledge and expertise with the decision makers and the public.
Since 2008, IESP has grown into a global network of scientists, decision-makers, and members from governmental and non-governmental organizations. It promotes Earth system science through conferences, workshops, seminars, lectures, and publications. It serves as a liaison between scientists, decision-makers, and the public to promote a mutually beneficial exchange and provide access to current scientific knowledge.
IESP's activities contribute to current policy debates as a platform for the discussion of sustainable development of ecosystems, economic, and social systems and their interrelationships. The IESP network has more than 50 international members with expertise in sustainability research, energy engineering and environmental sciences, natural resource technology, environmental engineering, climate dynamics, risk assessment, industrial ecology, political sciences, economics, and more.
